Each Staff is required to attend one break out session.

South Admin, ECCE and Therapy will choose ONE of 3 Morning Sessions from 9:45 - 10:45am (in the afternoon Communications in the Auditorium)

North Admin, Adult and Employment will choose ONE of 3 Afternoon Sessions from  1 - 2pm (in the morning Communications in the Auditorium)

Please choose the session below you would like to attend.  Read Carefully the descriptions of each session below and click the link to register.  You can only choose ONE session to attend.  Each session is limited in seating and will automatically close when it's full.  Please DO NOT add your name to multiple sessions.

BURRELL - CARING FOR THE CAREGIVER: THE STRUGGLE IS REAL. 9:45 - 10:45am - HARRISON ROOM

Presented by: Burrell Behavior Health - Be Well Initiative

Description: Brain health is a foundational component of human health and wellness. Just like breathing, we feel and experience emotions constantly. The world we live in, our unique lived experiences and our history directly affect our work, businesses, families, health, and communities. Despite all we know about their importance, brain health and emotional wellness are often avoided, minimized or neglected altogether. Not today.

Your leadership team at Developmental Center of the Ozarks is investing in your brain health and overall wellness by offering a Be Well Experience. Be Well Experiences put brain science into action as we engage together in evidence-based wellness practices (self-assessment, mindfulness, anonymous healing expression and self-care - to name a few). It CAN be Simple: TRAUMA AND SPECIAL NEEDS IN THE CLASSROOM 9:45 - 10:45am ROOM B

You feel called to teach and are enthusiastic about your lesson. But there are so many different needs... what happns when THAT kid/person shows up? or several disrupt the lesson? You want to love them, but you also want to teach them. Get some practical tips and tricks to use everyday to help keep your upbeat attitude!

Joanna Haskins is the owner of Simplicity Education Services, LLC and a veteran teacher. Her work focuses on kids and youth who hav a special needs or those who have experienced trauma.  She is passionate about helping teachers, pearents, and volunteers to connect with those they teach by using practical engagement strategies and behaviour management that can be incorporated easlily into any lesson. Joanna, and her husband Nathan, have four children and currenly live in Springfield. 

 
 
 

PERSONAL DEFENSE IN PUBLIC SETTINGS 9:45 - 10:45am ROOM A

Presented by: Allan McKelvy, 2 Tigers Martial Arts

This training is very physical in nature. Learn skills and techniques to successfully escape, resist, and survive violent attacks. This training does not guarantee an attack won’t occur or that you will be unharmed. However, failing to prepare is preparing to fail. This course will go over basics to help build confidence in the student. Please note: this should not be used with individuals served.
