Program Philosophy
It is the philosophy of the Therapy Program to
provide services which include physical, occupational and speech therapies, as well as special instruction to individuals who have developmental disabilities or similar service needs. The Therapy Program is dedicated to maintaining excellence in therapeutic treatment practices which will help the individual gain optimum functioning in daily activities, play and recreation and the work environment. Many of the individuals with whom we work are children and their families. Through structured therapeutic interactions, therapists provide training and support to enhance the family's capacity to work with their child. We feel that the family is the focal point of the child's life and that early intervention is the most effective way to elicit growth and development in a child's life.
This philosophy is based on the following:
- All children grow and develop at an individual rate, thus requiring individualized plans to enhance their unique development.
- Children learn best in a natural environment.
- Our therapists' role is to enable the family to incorporate therapeutic strategies into the family's daily routine and activities.
- Our therapists must maintain excellence in therapeutic treatment practices.
