ACCOMPLISHMENTS JANUARY - DECEMBER 2006

  • Increased percentage of evaluations mailed out within 10 days to 70%.
  • Received several major grants providing equipment, testing instruments and materials.
  • One staff completed educational credential requirements to meet the needs of children with visual impairments.
  • Implemented the Evaluation & Assessment (E&A) Team for First Steps in a 12 county radius, 100% compliance with 45 day IDEA requirement.
  • Completed affiliation agreements with Ozarks Technical Community College for COTA program, and Washington University School of Medicine for Occupational Therapy students.
  • Established play group for children and families to provide parent networking and peer group for children.
  • Established Physical Therapy satellite clinic in Taney County with support of Branson PAT office.
  • Increased the number of children seen in the natural environment.
  • Added shelving and storage systems to the Activity Room and both Therapy rooms.
  • Developed visual tools to better assess efficiency of Therapist travel.

GOALS FOR JANUARY - DECEMBER 2007

  • Increase "billable" time for the department to 75%.
  • Continue providing hearing and language screens for children in the Early Child Care Program.
  • Decrease absenteeism and "no show" appointments.
  • Develop plan for potential designs for remodeling the Activity Room to accommodate a class for children who have significant behavior problems & how Therapists would support ECCE in designing and conducting such a class.
  • Develop a follow up system with families for surveys not returned and increase survey response to at least 30%.
  • Complete community assessment to determine any areas of program/therapy need for children/families not current being met.
  • Research funding resources for children, age 3- 5, who do not qualify for the Early Childhood, Special Education Program but continue to need therapy services and /or older children who need additional therapy services not met by other sources.
  • Complete affiliation agreements with universities wanting to place students with DCO therapists.
  • Review the clerical needs of the E & A Team as well as workload of existing support staff to ensure efficiency.
  • Review Taney County Satellite Clinic therapy needs.
