Thursday, June 28th, 26 students from all over
Missouri were at Developmental Center of the Ozarks for a community service
day.
The students attended the state funded
Missouri Fine Arts Academy held at SMSU for 3 weeks during the summer. The
objective is for students to realize there is more to the arts than just
playing an instrument or painting a picture. Music, drama, art, and dance
students performed therapeutic programming to individuals with developmental
disabilities from DCO throughout the day.
Station's
were set up with different activities for children and adults, such as modern
dance, musical instruments, wall murals, etc. Individuals with developmental
disabilities interacted with talented high school students. We enjoy being
a MO Fine Arts site each year.
