Those who attended had the opportunity to view and buy a wide variety of minerals, fossils, semi precious rough and polished stones, finished jewelry, and other related items of interest. There were also working demonstrations as well as educational displays.

DCO Staff Appreciation Picnic Honor Staff
This year's Staff Appreciation Picnic was held September 7th on the grounds at DCO. Each department organized different games and prizes, which included a baby picture guessing game that kept everyone guessing right up until the end. The Therapy Department serenaded the crowd with a special song they wrote and danced to themselves. The following employees received recognition for their commitment and service to DCO. They demonstrate the quality of our services, with over 110 accumulated years of service. Billie Weaver, 30 yrs.; Allan McKelvy, 15 yrs.; Sherry Hailey, 15 yrs.; Leroy Epps, 15 yrs.; Crystal Vaughn, 10 yrs.; Annette Thomas, 10 yrs.; Marilyn Hastings, 5 yrs.; Susan Smith, 5 yrs. and Ellen Grier, 5 yrs.
October 11th marked a great first year of participation for DCO at the Annual Springfield Chamber of Commerce Business Exposition held at the University Plaza Trade Center. In addition to providing general information about DCO and signing up new volunteers for future projects, the DCO booth was busy all day with people receiving massages. Many thanks to the generosity
of Brad Weaver and UMB Bank for underwriting the Professional Massage Training Center and to Kellie Herman and Linda Mayhugh for massaging away various aches for six straight hours. This combined effort helped DCO raise $340! We hope to see you next year at the Business Expo.
