Program Philosophy
It is the philosophy of the Employment Program to provide functional assessments and employment opportunities that best fit the individual's preferences and skills.
Objectives of the Employment Program are to complete a functional assessment of the individual which includes family support, resources, interests, work samples and physical capacity. A specific job match is made by assessing potential work sites and matching participants with those sites which most nearly meet the participants' needs while in an integrated workplace. The Job Coach will develop specific strategies through task analysis while monitoring, modeling and assisting the participant to gain the necessary skills for the job. A Job Coach will gradually decrease the direct supervision as the participant gains skills and independence, but will always maintain some level of follow along supervision.
This philosophy is based on the following:
- The Employment Program will assist each participant to reach and maintain competitive employment.
- The Employment Program will provide access to working environments that are both integrated and exclusive.
- The Employment Program will provide coaching and ongoing support to ensure long-term employment.
